The former Real Madrid director has taken no time to praise the Barcelona superstar, despite playing for one of the main rivals. Jorge Valdano was recently sacked from his position as the sporting director of the club, after he lost the battle with the manager José Mourinho. Immediately after his exit, Real Madrid showed a superior form throughout last season and managed to win the league title for the first time in three seasons. Even though Lionel Messi had a superb season last time around by scoring 73 goals in all competitions, he was unable to prevent Real Madrid from winning the title.
Despite this, Jorge Valdano is extremely confident that Messi’s name will be former entrenched in the history of the world football. This is due to the fact that there will be able to replicate the level of performance put in by Lionel Messi week in and week out. Lionel Messi once again scored two goals during the weekend when Barcelona won 4-1 against Getafe.
